In August this year, we were extremely happy to receive the visit of many of our donors, partners and friends who happened to be in Kalimantan for the Subud World Congress.
As part of the Susila Dharma International Association (SDIA) network, YUM’s projects are supported by many individual donors and groups around the world.
During the project visits, we were able to show firsthand the agroforestry model plot which is currently used as a research center and demonstration plot for farmers in Bukit Batu who wish to transform their land using agroforestry methods. During the visit, our trainers demonstrated various best practices for soil regeneration using different techniques such as MOL (Local Microorganisms), Wood vinegar, Worms, Azolla and Eco Enzyme.
The visitors were also taken on a tour of the Vocational Training Center where they were able to see the classrooms for the Computer course, English course and also specific rooms for the Hospitality & Tourism Diploma program. In each space, our teacher explained the curriculum taught to the students.
Though the Stunting Prevention project usually takes place in the villages, we set up a dedicated space with photos and various props so that the health staff could explain to the visitors the various activities that take place in the villages. Two of our women community leaders, who are trained to deliver awareness campaigns around stunting, were present to show the visitors a typical cooking class that would happen during the program.
We sincerely hope that many more of those who support us can come and see the projects! If you are interested, let us know by sending an email to: jakarta@yumindonesia.org
