Celebrating a Successful Stunting Prevention Program in 2023

Starting the Year with Some Wins

As we embark on a new year, we’re thrilled to share with you some of the successes of YUM's Stunting Prevention Program In both West Java and Central Kalimantan in 2023. Thanks to the support from various donors, our team on the ground were able to effectively support the community and help them make significant steps in raising awareness surrounding stunting, improving the knowledge about nutrition for pregnant women, ensuring healthy babies were born, and increasing the skills and capacity of women volunteer health workers.

A Glimpse of Impact: By the Numbers

In 2023, we were able to support a total of 449 pregnant women, welcomed 293 healthy babies into the world, and provided training to 114 women volunteer health workers across 15 Posyandu in 17 villages. These numbers represent more than just statistics; they signify real lives affected and futures transformed.

Zeroing In on Success: Stunting Rates at Posyandu Centers

One of the most uplifting aspects of the program is the transformations we've witnessed in each of the Posyandu supported. The stunting rates among babies enrolled in our program are nothing short of remarkable—the majority of Posyandu reported 0% stunting rates. Yes, you read that right – a perfect score in ensuring healthy growth for our little ones.

In the few instances where stunting was observed, it occurred at a low rate of just 6% (compared to the national stunting rate of 21,6%). This outstanding achievement is a testament to the effectiveness of our collaborative efforts and the holistic approach we've taken to address the issue of stunting.

Looking Ahead to 2024: Building on Our Successes

As the journey towards preventing stunting continues, we are excited to carry the momentum forward into 2024. With your support, we aim to expand our reach, deepen our impact, and ensure that more communities benefit from our Stunting Prevention Program.

Additionally, we have started to address not only malnutrition issues in babies through stunting prevention, but also in toddlers through complementary feeding. This initiative began when we found out that children from 6 months to 2 years of age have a high risk of being stunted.
